June's Clients of the month: Nicole Wigglesworth & Kim Vaughn

Posted by Anna Collins

FullSizeRender-36.jpg
Chances are if you've been to FitHouse recently you have been in class with this dynamic duo - Nicole Wigglesworth and Kim Vaugh. Both of these ladies show up each and every day ready to work out and give class everything they have. One of my favorite things about these two is that they rarely take class without each other (to the point where I get concerned and ask where the other one is on the rare occasion they do take class alone). By taking classes together they continue to push the other to get stronger, faster, and tougher. Having a partner there to push you is one of the best ways to get results and it is clear that these two do just that. On top of all this, they are genuinely kind and happy people who light up the room and lift other clients spirits in the process.

Let's give a huge congratulations to our June clients of the Month - Nicole Wigglesworth and Kim Vaughn!

Carrot Cake Smoothie Recipe

Posted by Leslie Brebner

FullSizeRender-34-1.jpgWorking out became a part of my weekday morning routine more than 10 years ago.  It allowed me to lose over 30 pounds and keep it off.  It wasn’t the most strenuous workout but it was reliable and I’d be finished in about 35 minutes.  About 6 months ago, I decided to shake things up and add 10-15 minutes of higher intensity cardio to my workouts.  I felt and saw a positive change in my body and I had more energy.  The downside was that I was STARVING within an hour post workout.  I always ate breakfast, usually a bowl of high fiber, protein cereal with blueberries and almond milk. With 200 calories and 10 grams of protein I thought that would’ve been sufficient.  My research however, led me to realize that I needed more calories and specifically calories from protein.  As a former calorie counter, I was concerned about taking in more calories and possibly gaining weight.  But again my research unveiled that all calories are not equal.  100 calories from fruits and veggies are the hands-down winner over 100 calories cookies anytime.  Common sense right?  Unfortunately for me it wasn’t common practice.

FitHouse's February Client of the Month: Leslie Trayers!

Leslie was a clear choice for February's client of the month and no I’m not talking in third person!  I have had the pleasure of watching her progress in the cycle room from the back row and now making her way to the second row and when she’s comfortable she will be in that front row!  Her dedication to fitness is clear by the number of classes she takes per week and I always know I can count on her giving it her all in every single class!  Her no excuse personality is what makes me love instructing. She may be quiet but she is fierce! She’s an amazing rider and a valued member so congratulate her for being Fithouse’s Ms. February!
